The SMART Centre Group will attend the Zambia Water Forum and Exhibition, which will take place in Lusaka from Tuesday 9th – Thursday 11th of June 2026. The presence will focus on presenting the work on the portable solar pump and the work of the Jacana SMART Centre in Chipata.

The team will be present with a booth in which the portable solar pump will be demonstrated, together with a range of other SMARTechs. Also a session will be organised in which we will dive deeper into rural water supply and the opportunities for self-supply.

Honouring this year’s ZAWAFE title: “From commitment to Action” there will be an additional mini-forum on June 12 about practical approaches to reach SDG 6.1 in rural areas. It includes physical field activities on:

• Portable solar pumps (https://portablesolarpumps.com)
• Borehole siting and manual drilling
• Rope pumps and water filters

Presentations and much time for discussion on:

• Scaling up Portable Solar Pumps, experiences of 1100+ users
• Reaching SDG 6.1 in rural areas with supported self-supply and how to include SMEs (self-supply.com)

This mini forum is organised by the NGO Jacana and the MetaMeta – SMART Centre Group.
