Description<\/strong><\/h3>\n

On option to store rainwater in the ground and avoid a well going dry is the so called Tube recharge.<\/p>\n

Advantages compared to water storage tanks<\/strong><\/h3>\n
    \n
  • – Per cubic meter, a system\u00a0 (pit, well, pump) is 5 times cheaper.<\/li>\n
  • – No water lost by evaporation<\/li>\n
  • – Much larger storage capacity<\/li>\n
  • – Always \u201cfresh\u201d water<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Disadvantages compared to water storage tanks<\/strong><\/h3>\n
      \n
    • – Still unknown, needs specific training<\/li>\n
    • – Needs more field tests<\/li>\n
    • – Can not be combined with low cost\u00a0wells and pump if aquifers are over\u00a035 meters deep<\/li>\n
    • – Does not function in soils with very\u00a0thick clays\/ silty clays<\/li>\n
    • – Volume of infiltrated water that flows into the well cannot be\u00a0predicted<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      • Via a sand filter water is injected in the ground (Not into the aquifer)<\/li>\n
      • Eventually water will seep into the aquifer.<\/li>\n
      • Cost : 5 \u2013 15 US$<\/strong> (Cost of materials for a Tube recharge. Labour done by family)<\/li>\n
