The most simple way of lifting water from a well is a rope and a bucket or other container like a tyre.<\/p>\n

Advantages compared to a pump<\/strong><\/h3>\n

  • – Simple to use<\/li>\n
  • – Easy maintenance, Bucket and Rope\u00a0need frequent\u00a0\u00a0 replacement<\/li>\n
  • – Can adjust with water level changes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Disadvantages compared to a pump<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    • – To use a bucket the well has to be\u00a0open so dirt, or even children can fall\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0into the well.<\/li>\n
    • –\u00a0 A bucket and rope can contaminate\u00a0the water in the well, because of dirty\u00a0 \u00a0hands, mud on the bucket etc.<\/li>\n
    • – The movement of a bucket may cause\u00a0turbidity in the well water<\/li>\n
    • –\u00a0 Speed of extracting water in general\u00a0is less than with a pump<\/li>\n
